Overview:

The Soviet advance during their summer offensive was rapid and, combined with Hitler's "No Retreat" order, led to many German units becoming trapped inside cities. At Vilnius, remnants of two German regiments under the command of Luftwaffe Major-General Rainer Stahel battled encircling forces from the 3rd Guards Mechanized Corps. In response, two German Kampfgruppen were formed primarily from Panzer-Division 6 and Panzer-Regiment "Großdeutschland." After rounding up the Lithuanian partisans, one of the Kampfgruppen, led by Major Walter Pössl, began to open a 50-kilometer escape route for the Germans in Vilnius. As the Germans began to pull out of Vilnius, the 3rd Guards Mechanized Corps counterattacked.

2025-10-25(A) Jon Jaramillo vs Honus Russian win3 hrsPlayed at the annual Burning Wreck BBQ. I got the attacking Russians versus Dave's Germans.

Dave set up very light forward but in Los so I was able to make a very successful opening turn human wave. I also found Dave's pak gun in the woods in the middle of the board. That gun did a little damage, taking out three Russian afvs before I eliminated the crew. Aggressively, I started claiming buildings, quickly grabbing five by turn three and pushing the Germans out.

It got tight towards the end with Dave's reinforcements coming on from the east and cutting off any big advances. I eliminated the all but one German afv thereby making the needed buildings 10. By the end of turn 5 the Russians had 9 but that tenth was proving to be difficult.

In the m last turn, a needed Russians squad missed rallying on a 9, which was a huge blow. During movement I decided that one lone building to the east could be reached by an afv and a few infantry units but this building was occupied by a German full squad. I froze the location with a t34/85. Several shots to eliminate it failed. I then ran a 628, 8-1 and 9-1 leader cx adjacent. Facing an ambush roll of +3 I took an advancing fire 6 +2, rolled a pair of 2 for a 1mc and the squad failed. Facing routing away, the 10th location was mine and the game was halted.

Great scenario.
2025-10-25(A) Don Nordloff vs Bryan Russian win6 hrsPlayed at So Cal's Burning Wreck BBQ against Bryan (?).

I set up for a human wave on the Russian right. Its possible that I didn't have a KEU to target, but I ran into the German line and chewed it up some to push the line back to the hill feature.

My armored thrust went up the Russian left. The German hidden AT gun malf-ed on a intensive fire shot. This gave the Russians an opening to put tanks and infantry up on the lip of the hill. Germans faced the Russians with their reinforcements. Russians tried to winkle the German 1st line infantry out of their houses on the Russian right.

We enjoyed a good back and forth with lots of box cars and a good bloody fight. Russians took the necessary building locations on the top of the 5th and held off a counter attack by the Germans. Would play again.

2025-03-07(A) Paul Legg vs Ian Ainsworth DrawHeroes 2025 - Friendly

we called it a draw due to running lateMy russians had 8 of the buildings at the time
2024-10-01(A) Michael Augustine vs Rich Domovic Russian win0.08 hrsRussians got early momentum by executing a successful Turn 1 Human Wave. There were various swings back and forth throughout the game, but the Russians carried the day with a little extra to spare. Sgt Rock comic book event was a DC toting 9-1 leader ran into an adjacent open ground adjacent to the Marder (that was out of HE). A nearby infantry fired, and the 9-1 HOB'd to a heroic 9-2. The Marder fired its BMG and broke it. It then fired AP 3 times at it for no effect. The leader placed the DC poorly (no attack on the Marder itself), but the Specific Collateral Attack resulted in a 1KIA (STUN) on the crew.
