Overview:

After several days of struggle, the City of Aachen-one of the first major towns to be threatened on the Western Front-was now completely enveloped. The veteran US 1st Infantry Division had approached from the south, while the 30th Infantry Division, a National Guard Unit known as "Old Hickory," had done so from the north. Five kilometers north of Aachen, the town of Wurselen was one of the few supply routes still open for the Aachen Garrison. Fighting was particularly fierce in the northern section of town, around the critical rail and road links. The 30th was pushing hard and the panzergrenadiere and panzers from Panzer-Division 116 "Windhund" (Greyhounds) responded to the pressure.
Attacker: American (2nd Battalion, 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division and A Company, 743rd Tank Battalion)
Defender: German (Kompanie 5, Panzergrenadier-Regiment 156, Panzer Division 116 "Windhund" and Kompanie 8, Panzer-Regiment 16)

2026-04-23(A) Jonathan Plott vs David Wiesenhahn American winPlayed this (along with Steve B) the first night of Bitter Ender this year in Raleigh. Turned it into an ersatz 3-player game, with Steve and I playing the Americans and Dave handling the Germans. Great game with great friends!
2026-02-22(D) Dan Owsen vs Jeff N German winVery close game that could have gone either way. My Germans had some good rally rolls that made the difference.
2025-03-27(A) Todd Cox vs American winAmerican win in the last turn. There were several broken stacks of germans that had to route out of the victory area, all on the last route phase. Just prior to that rout, the sole remaining good order German unit in the victory area got broken by a sniper attack, and eliminated due to failure to rout.
2022-08-31(A) Rob MacGinley vs James Short German winThough US have good firepower and you try to flank and surround - really really hard to dig the Germans out
2022-08-22(A) David Shannon vs Tim Reade German winI lost too much force by turn 3 - infantry on the northern flank pushing into CC7 building, and 3 tanks pushing from the west. I had a flanking force coming in from the south as well, but in hindsight it would have been better placed elsewhere - either a stronger western or northern push.
