Overview:
In August of 1944, the Soviet 2nd Ukrainian Front was advancing towards Isai. Romanian and German defenses were situated on high ground in the path of the Soviet advance. An early morning bombardment struck the Romanian trench line. Secure in their protective bunkers, the Romanians would emerge into the damaged trenches to repel Soviet infantry and armor.
