Overview:
The end of August 1950 saw the KPA offensive against the Pusan Perimeter lose momentum, but a renewed attack on 1 September caught UN forces by surprise. Attempting to exert pressure on the UN forces east of Naktong and capture Taegu, the In Min Guns experienced but worn-down 3rd Division engaged the equally tired U.S, 7th Cavalry Regiment in the hills straddling the highway between Chilgok and Waegwan. After the 3rd Division captured Waegwan on 8 September, 7th Cavalry moved into reserve leaving Col. Marcel Crombez' 5th Cavalry Regiment locked into back-and-forth battles in the hills just 8 miles west of Taegu.Attacker: American (Company I, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division)
