Overview:

On 13 July 1941, in Italian-occupied Montenegro, Montenegrin separatist Dekula Drljevic proclaimed an Independent State of Montenegro. A nationwide rebellion escalated by Partisans, Yugoslav Royal officer and various other armed personnel. It was the first organized armed uprising in then occupied Europe and involved 32,000 people. Most of Montenegro was quickly liberated, except major cities where Italian forces were well fortified.

When you're playing the Italian and you break both your MMGs on Turn 3, you're probably not going to win the game. In my case, I set up my gun, an MMG and the mortar on hill 534, with the idea being the gun would take long range shots while the mortar cleared the woods for me and the MMG as backup. Meanwhile I placed the other MMG in the steeple. Pretty good plan, but since the Gun starts unmanned it's probably better to use the MMGs for long range fire while the Gun gets into action. Nonetheless I did get some good effects later, but I needed the MMGs firing as well. Even with the MGs down, I managed to briefly crystalize the Partisans at two points in the town and as he moved through the woods on the west side of the map.
Partisan force of numbers weighed heavily and I lost a couple squads in CC. Even so the decisive battle was on the hill. I stayed in the game with the help of solid play and some good dice when I needed it. Neil's Demo-charge toting leaders provided the coup-de-gras on Turn 8 and it was all over.
The main thing I should have done differently was start my tank farther back -- I started it too far forward and the crew got killed before they could man the tank. In light of getting diced, I suppose I should be pleased with having made Neil work harder for the win :)
