Overview:
Preliminary to the main German attack on Medjez, a position known as Fort McGregor had to be seized from British defenders. The forward outpost consisted of an infantry company with its platoons dug in around a bare, rocky knoll, with the entire position surrounded by wire. Since there was practically no natural cover aside from scrub, the Germans decided to make a night assault on the “fort”. . .Attacker: German (Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 5)
