Overview:
The capture of Kharkov, an important road and railway hub, was of prime importance for the Soviets, and had been ordered by Stalin himself. To attain this end, the 5th Tank Army had received the order to make a breakthrough and encircle the city. However, the Germans were aware of the danger and had dispatched the 2nd SS Division "Das Reich" into that sector. This division, well furnished with Panthers and Tigers, arrived just as the Soviet attack began.Attacker: Russian (5th Tank Army)
