Overview:
As the Germans swept through northern France, BEF rearguards were set up to delay them. At Hondeghem. Battery K of the Royal Horse Artillery and some 80 men from a searchlight company were positioned with orders to hold the village for at least one day. The Germans attacked in the morning with tanks and infantry, to be repulsed after knocking out two of the four guns.
