Overview:
After clearing the small city of Epinal, the U.S. 6th Corps drove northeast. This area was at the foothills of the Vosges Mountains. The only way through this rough area was along the road network. The first order of business had to be the capture of Brouvelieures. Here elements of the German 716th Infantry Division and the 21st Panzer Division were determined not to allow the strategic road junction to be of use to the Americans.Attacker: American (Companies E & G, 179th RCT, 45th Thunderbird Division and 191st Tank Battalion)
