Overview:
The 30th Infantry Division had crossed the Roer River and was advancing toward the town of Steinstrass. The shattered remnants of the 363rd Volksgrenadier Division fell back from the Roer and were desperately trying to defend a line of strongpoints covering newly laid minefield around the Hambach Forest. The 119th Infantry Regiment was to clear the Hambach Forest starting at 1630 hours. New M-24 Chaffee tanks, along with a few Sherman flail tanks from the British 1st Lothian Border Yeomanry joined the attack.Attacker: American / British (1st Battalion, 119th Infantry Regiment and C Company, 744th Light Tank Battalion, 30th Infantry Division and elements of the A Squadron, 1st Lothians Border Yeomanry)
