Overview:
Leutnant Feßmann and his four vehicle armoured patrol was subordinated to the 4th Panzer Division's 33rd Infantry Regiment as its reconnaissance spearhead. Hill 88 was their objective and as Leutnant Feßmann urged his patrol forward, there suddenly came a distance rumble followed by shell bursts into a nearby thicket. Splinters bounced off the flanks, while dirt and severed branches fell on the hatches as more shells fell behind them. The dull rumble of shells passing overhead was all they could hear now as well as the occasional explosions in the distance. Then suddenly there was another noise. Leutnant Feßmann stood up in his hatch and listened. 'Tanks!" cursed his gunner Feldwebel Engelhard after hearing Feßmann message "And all we have is our door knocker!'
