Overview:
The German Grossdeutschland Division had air-landed Oberstleutnant's Garski's troops via Fisler Storch aircraft at 0500, as part of Operation Niwi near the villages of Nives and Witry. At 0800, Lieutenant Schweicher led a reconnaissance patrol of the Belgian 11th Company, 1st Regiment Chasseurs Ardennais from Fauvillers down Route N-825 toward Triamont to find the Germans and determine if the road was open. Schweicher's patrol, including a T-13 light tank, cleared Witry, but ran into heavy German fire on the outskirts of Triamont.Attacker: Belgian (11th Company, 1st Regiment Chasseurs Ardennais)
