Overview:
After the Italian surrender in September 1943, British units swept into the Aegean accepting the surrender of individual Italian units on the small Greek islands. To prevent the British from flanking them and possibly opening a second front along Germany’s southern borders, the islands had to be retaken by the Germans. On Corfu Island, the Küstenjägers had the advantage of surprise against an unsuspecting British garrison and their landing was easy.Attacker: German (Kampfschwimmer Kp. and Interpreter Platoon)
