Overview:

The Gross Deutschland renewed its offensive the morning of 9 July with vigor. The 2nd Battalion, Panzergrenadier Regiment GD made the main attack on Verkopenye, reinforced with PzIVs, Tigers, and Panthers. The attack kicked off at 0700 with a massive dive bomber attack on the village. The armor attacked from the south supporting the infantry as they made the assault. The Germans had to clear the defenders house by house, receiving intense flanking fire from the west.

The FB softening up was much less
The defence in the town was really a pain
Ian was able to slow me but teh final push was just cut to pieces on wire surrounding the central building and rubble
definitely showed me lots playing it twice how teh same plan can just not work in all situations
2021-10-22(D) Jason Nichols vs Rob MacGinley German winInteresting start with the Fighter-Bombers softening up the Russian defence. Germans made steady progress but lost a number of tanks on the way. Highlight for me was knocking out a Panther and a Tiger in CC. Came down to the Germans' last turn and had to eradicate remnant Russian defenders in three locations. Luckily for Rob a Russian squad in a fortified building went berserk which meant they were no longer in good order. This allowed him to rush the building and enter for CC. Rob's rolls in CC for each of the three locations resulted in him eliminating all Russian defenders for the win. A very enjoyable scenario. Having played it I would probably set up differently and concentrate my best forces in the centre in fortified buildings and try to hold out.

as a tread head it has the elements of Panzer IVs with Panthers carving a path after FB softening up
In truth teh plans went my way so I was keen to play it again against another opponent I loose more to and see if its the plan or the dice
2019-11-10(A) Jeff B vs Tom Mueller German win14.25 hrsStarted a couple weeks before as a very rare FtF game for me. Pre-game bombardment got lucky and destroyed both SU-76Ms, flaming one in the middle of the board, who's subsequent spreading fire would prove to be somewhat of an obstacle for my attack. A boneheaded stack advance into a minefield proved very costly for me early as all three squads broke. One would rally later, only to become berserk while leaving the mines, and charge to his doom. HoBs were the name of my game, generating three heroes (though two of these were wounded leaders). My 8-0 radio operator was sniped on the first turn and I went without OBA for the game. My armor was also not in battle condition, as I MALF'd four guns, immobilized three, and bogged three. Thankfully I was still able to wipe out the Russian armor just in time for their puny two Lees to enter. 27 buildings (6 fortified) is an awful lot for the Germans take in 8 Turns, especially with all the rubble and debris. Despite all my vehicular setbacks though, my infantry proved capable, and I was able to wipe out most all of the Russian infantry by the end of Turn 5 so they conceded. I'd take the Russians every time in this.
