Vichy FrenchAmerican
Overview:
As part of the Operation Torch landings in French North Africa, the 60th Regimental Combat Team landed on the beaches in the Mehdia area. Detachments from Company A, 1st Battalion were sent several miles southward to forestall any French reinforcements from Rabat interfering as the balance of the regiment came ashore. The Americans successfully turned back the first French probe. The French, having never seen bazookas, thought that the Americans had artillery support. A second more powerful probe supported by tanks moved to push the Americans back.Attacker: Vichy French (Garde Marocaine, 7eme Regiment du Tirailleurs Marocains, and Regiment de Chasseurs d'Afrique)
Defender: American (Company A, 1st Battalion, 60th Regimental Combat Team)

2023-11-12 | (D) Vic Lauterbach | vs | JM | Vichy French win | This was a fun game even though my GIs got pushed around by Jim's Vichy French. (Take the balance if you play the US even though it's just one more HS.) LMORs are often called useless, but they weren't in this fight. My 60 did good work until the squad with it was broken and it was captured. The French 60 pummeled my 8-1 led stack on turns 3 and 4. Stopping the French ACs is key. I fell back and covered choke points BB2 and BB7 with one BAZ 43 and the Y10-R4 road at W6 with the other. I disabled on BAZ on its second shot then missed the game-winning BAZ shot on a moving AC in V6. Jim: I saw on turn 5 that the French ACs don't have enough MPs go through the T2 grain field, so I drove them around the Y-Z-AA woods, losing one to the bazooka gauntlet. It was very close! I should have kept a couple squads back to hop back on their motorcycles blaze down the D3-R4 road. Getting 12 exit VP from just infantry is essentially impossible. Note: This scenario could use two more SSRs: one for the unreliable, early M6 bazooka rockets and lack of training on the new weapon, and one for no captured use penalties for the 60 LMORs. The US and French light mortars were the same.
2022-11-01 | (D) S. Slunt | vs | Stephen Stewart | American win (VASL Log) | As the American I felt that it was touch and go until turn 4. I think that the french should have pushed everyone as far as he could have and try to get to where he could use what little cover he could and use the Armored cars as coverage The Americans did roll really well when it came to fire against the armored cars. Killing two with the MMG. Vasl Log uploaded
2021-05-27 | (D) Gus Ingenluyff | vs | American win | Americans set up a defence near the stone wall with a potential firelane up the forest road. The trucks and AFVs (also using truck movement) attacked along both roads and the open ground (very slowly), There was a 1 turn inconclusive firefight with the Americans behind the wall and the French behind the hedge that could have gone either way. But then the french had to push on. The Americans then fell back to defend the narrow gap in the road. The highlight was a French HS on a motor bike taunting the Americans all over the board. Not sure how balanced this one is.
2021-04-15 | (D) Kevin Duval | vs | Dwayne Duval | American win | Used American balance.
2021-04-14 | (A) Dwayne Duval | vs | Kevin Duval | American win | Used American balance. The unimaginative French frontal assault turned out to be an unmitigated disaster. It was all over by the top of the 4th turn. |
