Overview:

The 2.Panzerdivision and its new commander, Oberst Meinrad von Lauchert, had no real responsibilities during the first phase of Unternehmen Herbstnebel (Operation Autumn Mist). However, its first priority was to capture the bridge over the Clerf River at Clervaux, before advancing on Bastogne. The village was defended by Company B, 1st Battalion, US 110th infantry Regiment and M36 tank destroyers from the 630th Tank Destroyer Battalion. Company B was well dug in and the German assault companies assaulted the village but were unable to pierce the perimeter and were forced to infiltrate the woods north and south, heading for their primary objective, Clervaux.

2017-11-18(D) Andy Beaton vs Luca Martini German winVASL League. Ran out of time but Germans would have won unless they made a mistake looking for my HIP half squad or I was very lucky with the dice. Conceded.
2012-03-25(A) Fred Ingram vs Jeff Coleman German winAll the pioneers went up the left flank with the others up the right. Mines were placed well (breaking 3 squads and holding up a good fire group for fear of leaving the minefield in a foxhole. (2) MMG broke 2/3 of the pioneers and it took 2 complete turns before they rallied (even with no DM). The 50 cal was located in a back building in the center with LOS to the hedge line on the right. Luckily I only moved a single squad into it's bore-sighted hex (for a KIA) so the units avoided that location.

On turn 3, my mortar got a CH on the 50 cal location, killing the leader and ELR's the squad. At this point, I gain very good freedom of movement from left flank into the victory area. 5-4-6 &6-6-6 American squads were no match for the elite Germans the rest of the game. I killed one tank with a placed demo (after the open topped crew pinned and had to go BU). A panzerschreck took out the other. On German turn 8 there was an American kill stack in a wood building surrounded by lots of German units. The first shot broke them for the game win.
