Overview:

The foundation of Eighth Army's defense was the Alam Halfa Ridge, and the cornerstone of that fuondation was the western spur. By midday the 15th Panzer Division had fought its way to the ridge despite the loss of their division commander. The attack was led by a few Mk IV "specials", whose long-barreled 75mm guns took out severel Grant medium tanks from long range. Just as the 15th Panzer was gaining momentum, however, 5th Royal Tank Regiment was thrown in to stem the assault. -- Scenario 2 of 3 in the Line In The Sand mini-campaign.

2026-08-23(A) Vic Lauterbach vs JM British winUp 1-0 in LitS, I got my DAK KG across the open desert quickly and took VC Hill 758 on turn 4. That triggered a massive fight for Hill 766 that drew in almost every unit we both had left. (I never seriously threatened Hill 792.) This one was closer than it looked in turn 5, but I simply ran out of infantry by turn 7. I had 3 squads and 2 HS and 2 leaders for my last desperate attack on 766. It failed as OBA plastered both sides. More Panzers survived than I expected, and overall this one was a great fight in torturous terrain! Jim: Like all desert scenarios with dust, this one boils down to who gets LR hits. Neither of us got any, so the tank battle moved into the hills where we both had more bounce offs than kills! Both sides must keep MMCs alive, which isn't easy! Fortunately, my survivors were on hills with entrenchments and they held out but just barely. Good game! Our LitS is tied and J81 will decide it!
2021-10-01(D) Richard Jenulis vs Dennis Hess British winA Line in the Sand (Scenario 2). British played a reverse slope defense. The Germans took one objective, but were ~ two turns behind securing the second and the victory. British high points were shooting down one Stuka and damaging/recalling the second with AA fire.
2020-06-21(D) Tom Kearney vs Walt McWilliams British winA Line in the Sand mini campaign. A rate tear by a 6#’er essentially wrecked the German attack. Campaign ended with a British victory.
2020-06-20(A) walter mcwilliams vs Tom Kearney British winJ80 Egypt's Last Hope Tom and I finally finished up our Line in The Sand mini today, when Tom gave me a god old fashioned butt kicking. Roar has this at 3 to 1 in favor of the Brits, and both Tom and I agree this is terribly difficult on the Germans. Tom one it on turn 2 dph ROF year with a 57L ATG that left me 5 AFV shocked or destroyed. With the 75 longs allout of action Tom counterattacked with the Lee,s to begin blasting away the remaining Germans. It was pointless to continue.. I knew when neither mortar found smoke the long shot wasn't going to play. The options I chose were the 100mm Arty, which luckily came down early, before his AC showed up, I took short barreled 75s to support the infantry , but they were gone before they fired a shot. My final group was the 251smg group. I also chose the marter and placed it in overwatch, where it scored a CH on a Stewart at 20 hexes
2016-12-31(D) Jim Kloss vs Bob Eury British winI purchased the extra 6 pounder AT gun and 3" mortar and the 100mm OBA module for the British. the extra 6 pounder was crucial to the destruction of the German armor during its approach to the board 25 hill.
