Overview:
As the Soviet steamroller pushed on towards Budapest each large town or village on the map now became an objective. Towns with road and rail junctions or river crossing served to focus the attention of STAVKA as it tried to knock Hungary out of the war and seize their prized capital city. Kecsemet was one of these magnets. Here on the southwestern suburbs, the Hungarians braced for another strong attack. The Russian assault penetrated into the Hungarian positions and hand-to-hand fighting erupted in the streets and houses of the small suburban town of Kiskunfelgyhaza. As the battle raged a sizeable Hungarian armored counterattack entered the fray.Attacker: Russian (108th Guards Rifle Division)
