After the ineffective Naval bombardment of Afetna, the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines landed about 600 meters north of the point. They were to clear the trenches and bunkers held by the 47th Independent Mixed Brigade. I went for the Exit VP, and despite a number of casualties managed a fairly comfortable win. Tough one for the Japanese I feel. They need some luck, but the USMC firepower is a thing to behold and is their strength. USMC should be wary of close combats. Japanese should be wary of USMC firepower, and look to limit the USMC ability to exit the playing area (IMO). Great to play Dave ... he is the same over the (virtual) table as he is on screen (a gentleman). | ||

March forward, take trenches and pillboxes if you can, but get off the map. The Japanese with the smaller force need to hold fire, inflict casualties, defend their setup area and somehow fall back to stop the american horde. My setup wasn't great, and Tim's a great player, so despite 20+cvp for the Japanese it was a decisive US victory. Well played Tim - good luck in the semis! |
