Overview:

In an effort to relieve the encirclement of Leningrad on the Volchov Front, the Second Shock Army had been trapped with approximately 130,000 men inside the pocket but succeeded in creating a small breach inside the German defenses. Without losing time, the Russians prepared a follow up operation in order to widen the breach, and afterwards, to resume the advance towards Novgorod. The mission was given to the 225 Rifle Division, led by Coronel Konstantin Yuvenalievich Andreev, supported by the remaining tanks of the 193 Independent Tank Battalion. At dawn on April 2nd, the first attack was repelled with many losses among the attackers due to the lack of supporting armor. But at noon, the tank battalion was committed and would spearhead the following infantry attack...

2026-01-02(D) Craig Houliston vs Chuck Hammond Spanish Blue / German winAxis defenders on bd 85 withdrew to the 2x5 VP bldg areas with limited losses on either side. Seeing the Russian hordes, focused on taking out T34s to deny safe exit VC of one T34. 1 each by: THH / mtr immob. / DC / CC / CCRF immob., for a total of 5 of 7. The two remaining tanks failed their 6ML radioless TC (inexp. crew) in turn 5. This would allow the 3xPzIIIs turn 5 reinforcements w/ 2x(-1) ALs (and w/ A6) to cover the VC exit areas with side shots on the T34s (6AF) and the 150ART still concealed. Chuck had an absolute awful turn 5 when the 2 crews did not pass radioless TC and infantry prep fire couldn’t get a decent result. The failed TCs really hurt. Russians called off the attack. It was an interesting challenge for both sides, but the inexp. crews, once no longer in platoon, really hurt Russian chances.

2022-04-16(A) O Ramaille vs Jean-Pascal P Spanish Blue / German winPlayed at Hedgerow Hell 2022. The Russian decided to launch their attack on the Eastern side of the village where the total building control VP are higher. The overwhelming number of Russian infantry managed to move through the woods with heavy falling snow but not without casualties from the defending Spaniards. The T-34 attacked in 3 platoons and overran some of them, wounding their best leader. Two platoons decided to move forward in order to exit at least one tank. But the first platoon triggered a heavy artillery gun who destroyed them before they could escape. The second tank platoon was chased and destroyed by assault engineers, despite having survived tank-hunter hero attacks and a optimally launched DC who did not explode. The last platoon stayed a moment in the village to support the infantry attack and after moving to the South were destroyed by the same artillery gun with the help of some Panzer III that entered as reinforcements. Without any mobile tank left, the Russian lost despite the large number of Russian squads.
The Russian reinforcements were not helpful at all as they are coming in a very small woods distant from the village through vast open ground area, easily defended by a single mortar.
