Overview:

VASL setup file under USER FILES . . .The 13th of May was the day on which the French front started to crumble. General Guderian and his 19th Panzerkorps crossed the Meuse River to the east and west of Sedan. General Huntzinger, commanding the French 2nd Army, decided to evacuate the defense line from Sedan to the village of Villy. On the morning of the 15th of May, around 0500, and after a preparation by the German 171.Artillerie-Regiment, the first soldiers of the German 191.Infanterie-Regiment crossed the Chiers River. The movements of the enemy had not gone unnoticed. Around 1100, Lieutenant Tyckozinski, commander of the casement at Villy West, without waiting for orders, (which weren't going to come anyway...), opened fire with the 75mm cannon model 97/23.

2024-11-03(A) Indy Lagu vs Colin Jeshke German winThings looked pretty grim for the Germans early on. A well-placed mortar
and some accurate shooting meant the Germans were down 2 squads before
the end of turn 1. When the 9-2 and another squad went down on turn 2,
it started to look hopeless. I was even contemplating shaking hands after
turn 3.

...then the tide shifted...

A couple of missed shots by the French and a bit of luck with the OBA
meant the beginning of the end for the defenders.

At the end of the game, there was one unbroken French squad left.
The Germans had captured the village, as well as the buildings C5
and D5. One last French turn wasn't going to do anything.

My plan was to go to the French left in force as it was weakly held.
The accurate French firing scuttled that plan, and I ended up going
head on with the French, more-or-less.

It feels like there's not a lot for the French to do. Colin said he'd rate
this one a 7 or 8. I think 8 is a bit too much, as the French just seem
to have to sit there and take the pounding the Germans unleash on
them.

Worth playing once for sure.

French moral proved resilient against the OBA so they retained control of the village into the final turn and the German moral waivered just when they needed to get more squads and leaders adjacent for the final CCs. A good close fun game
2021-11-13(A) Richard Jenulis vs Dennis Hess German winOBA, a 9-2 and a 8-3-8! The German OBA came down and blasted the French out of the stone building stronghold. The 9-2 flanked right. The French called the game on turn 4 with only 2 HS left.
