Overview:
Following the costly failure of Operation MARKET GARDEN, the Allied High Command launched Operation PHEASANT, the liberation of southern Holland. The thorn in the side of the Allied advance northward was the Dutch town of s-Hertogenbosch, which was defended by the veteran 712th Infanterie-Division. As the first part of the liberation of that city, the 53rd Welsh Division launched an attack on Nuland, one of the small towns directly to the east. The attack was supported by armor of the 141st Regiment, which included the much-feared Churchill Crocodile, a flamethrowing tank of withering destructive potential.Attacker: British (71st and 160th Brigades, 53rd (Welsh) Division and 141st Regiment, Royal Armoured Corps)
