Overview:

Throughout the day, the German spearhead poured out of the Maastricht bottleneck and headed southwest. The Belgian III Corps had withdrawn from the Liège fortifications to avoid being encircled. One regiment, the Régiment de Forteresse de Liège, stayed behind to hold the line and disrupt the German advance.

2021-03-26(A) O Ramaille vs Macari Samuel German winOutnumbered Belgian troops faced a heavily armed German troops reinforced by 3 Panzer IIA. Fearing that they could easily be flanked, the MG pillboxes were setup far from the fordable river. The German mortars launched several smoke shells that prevent any effective defensive fire. The German squads and panzers crossed the two bridges and eliminated the first resistance points. The placement of a spotting round helped to guess the position of the Belgian observer who broke early and was unable to properly direct OBA. The Germans finally swarmed around the hopeless Belgians making a lot of prisoners unable to withstand the German attack with its meager troops. With 24 stone buildings controlled and more than 25 CVP inflicted, the Germans achieved a decisive victory.
I think the Belgians could have achieved a better result defending the bridges whatever the cost to slow down the Germans. Still it looks hopeless to the Belgian facing a German with armor support.
2021-03-26(D) Macari Samuel vs O Ramaille German winProbably one of my worse setup which enabled my opponent to claim an easy and crushing victory.
2020-09-29(D) Gordon Jupp vs Derek Cox German winOur playing (as part of the campaign) was close until the last turn, A pill box dished out a lot of damage and stalled one flank of the German attack but they were able to cross the river on the other and superior numbers told. Still it was another interesting scenario.
2020-08-30(A) Dave Mareske vs Dan Best German winI had the Germans in this one and I took all my forces up board 66 confronting only one pillbox which I was able to smoke. Even so, it was a tough one to crack, but when it did the flood gates opened and the Germans poured through. I think Dan had a pretty good defense, but I had a couple of well-timed critical hits which took out one of his flanks. These scenarios have been tough on the Belgians.
