Overview:

After more than a week of enemy advances, the Polish Poznan Army launched a counter-attack from the south of the Bzura river on 9 September. The Germans were hurled back some 20 kilometers, and responded by sending reinforcements to the threatened sector. Among these was the newly formed SS Infantry Regiment Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler. Among many towns liberated from their new occupiers, Sochaczew was again in Polish hands. After a seesaw fight for the town, Polish forces were pushed into the now burning town center on 14 September.
