Overview:

Panzer Division Hermann Göring attacked towards the American beaches in Sicily starting from the afternoon of 10 July 1943. The eastern part of the attack started from the Acate area towards the Gela-Vittoria coastal road. From that road the German forces could have chosen to reinforce the western arm of the division or to advance towards the beaches of the 180th RCT or to head towards Vittoria to the reunite with the KG Schmaltz. On the morning of 11 July, paratroopers of 3/505th PIR lead by Col. James Gavin arrived in the area in groups, progressively reinforced by a section of the 456th Parachute Field Artillery Battalion's 75mm pack howitzers.

2020-12-29(A) Paul Works vs Nathan Wegener American winAmericans swung around the edge of the ridge to limit the fire capabilities of the German MTRs. Nathan had the ridge defended with one of his AFVs (hull-down), but could not withstand the attack oof three M4s. Gavin's special morale benefits allowed three full stacks of paratroopers to get within range of the ridge and cleared the ridge of all German defenders. German needs some good ROFs from his AFVs and some turret hits (as the U.S. tanks can move up and stop hull-down in the olive groves) to keep the game anyhere close. Once the Americans get on the ridge, they are inside the min-range of the Germans MTRs.
