Overview:
United Nations Forces liberated Seoul and regained the territory lost in the initial North Korean invasion. U.N. Forces now established defensive positions to solidify the front and negotiate a cease-fire. The ROK 6th Division attacked north from Hwaak-san and seized Hill 1057 at Pok ju-san near Line Wyoming. Aerial reconnaissance reported a large body of troops from the Chinese 60th Division just ahead. The ROK 2nd and 19th Regiments were ordered to stop their advance and prepare defensive positions. The Chinese struck at 1700 hours with a massive attack that swept into the ROK defensive positions. The poorly led ROK 6th Division soldiers cracked under enemy pressure then suddenly started to "bugout". Abandoning their heavy equipment and vehicles, the ROK soldiers began a headlong flight south to avoid encirclement.Attacker: Communist Chinese (CPVA) (60th Division)
