VASL Setup below under User Files. . . . .The German 72nd Infantry Division with the attached 1st SS Infantry Regiment 9 (mot.) "Leibstandarte"was attacking to force the French back across the Marne River. The 41st Infantry Division had arrived to reinforce the French and was occupying strong positions around a chateau in Gandelu. These additional French forces arrived just before the German 124th Infantry Regiment launched its attack at 1100. Seeing the initial German attack was foundering, Hauptsturmfuhrer Mohnke ordered his SS battalion into action to reinforce the attack. The machine guns of Kompanie 8 along with some 150mm infantry guns and mortars supported Baum's Kompanie 7 feint attack from the northwest, while Kremer's Kompanie 5 formed a schwerpunkt from the east.Attacker: German (SS) (Elements of Kompanien 5 and 7, Bataillon 2, SS Infanterie Regiment (Mot.) 1, "Leibstandarte", Infanterie Division 72)
