Overview:
Through the beginning of April the First Special Service Force continued its aggressive patrolling schedule, during which it noted the growing German defensive strength from Cerreto Alto to the sea. This build up offered a lucrative target for a combined infantry-tank raid. On 15 April, No. 4 Company advanced along the Borgo Sabotino-Litoranea Road with medium tanks of the 1st Armored Regiment in close support. Upon reaching the settlement (a group of four stone farmhouses designated 9-10-11-12) shortly after dawn, No. 4 Company quickly cleared Houses 9-10-11 without encountering any Germans; however, anti-tank mines blocked the road between 11 and 12, and a flurry of machine-gun fire erupted from House 12.Attacker: American (No. 4 Company, 1st Regiment, FSSF & 1st Armored Regiment)
