Overview:

In an effort to take Nancy, the US Army decided to encircled the town and a large movement was directed to cut it from the rest of the German Army. Lunéville was a medium sized town on the route of movement to complete the encirclement. The 2nd Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron (known as “Patton’s Ghosts”) reached Lunéville on 15 September and 1st and 2nd Platoons of C Troop, 42nd Mechanized Reconnaissance Cavalry Battalion were sent, with great optimism, to take the city by a ‘coup de main’.

2023-04-15(A) walter mcwilliams vs Thomas Cietinovich American winRound 1 of the Recon Mini - What a great fight this was. I failed to grasp how fast the US really has to move on the early turns, and when I did realize it, I had to exit a good amount of my force before the German reinforcements came on. That left me hanging by a thread and by all rights I should have lost. However, the dice gods smiled on me. Tom malfed the AT gun and the MA on the 1/2-track which was marauding my rear shooting up abandoned jeeps. I managed to roll a 2 on a canister roll to smoke a lone 1/2 squad blocking my way into the final victory building and Tom rolled poorly on his to final attempts to kill at least 1 more M8 to push me over the VC. What an exciting game against a very good and talented opponent.
2023-04-15(D) Jonathan Plott vs Tom Harper German winLast match at the recent Bitter Ender Tournament in Raleigh NC. The defenders were able to dodge and weave enough against the onrushing Americans to survive until the arrival of reinforcements. A PAK kill against one of his armored cars and the infiltration of a half-track borne squad deep into American rear threatening one of his recently captured VC buildings led to defender win. Great game Tom!
2020-10-22(D) O Ramaille vs Lionel Colin American winVery nice play with the designer. The Germans were first pushed back from the factories. But then they resisted a while the American assault, despite M8 armored cars infiltrating evrywhere. The hidden panzerschreck crew missed a full speed Jeep. But the 75L AT gun destroyed two M8s. Eventually, the Americans succeeded in controlling 6 multihex buildings and exiting two M8 ACs. In the last turn, the Germans failed to get back the captured buildings. A nervous scenario with lots of possibilities and decisions to make.
