Overview:

At the end of the first day of the war, General Kiponos was ordered to counterattack toward Vladimir-Volynski, destroying all German forces in his path. As unrealistic as this was, Kirponos had no choice but to obey. The five mechanized corps earmarked for the attack, spread throughout northern Ukraine, were not able to properly concentrate due to poor scheduling. On their approach to the border, the Soviet mechanized units were decimated by air attacks and mechanical breakdowns. The 19th Tank Division created a provisional regiment made up of its remaining armored cars and T-26 light tanks. In the early afternoon of 24 June, the 19th came into contact with the advancing Germans west of Lutsk.

2024-10-25(A) Mark Thompson vs German (Tony Gibson) Russian winThe Russians entered with 4 sets of T-26 platoons, two on either side of the Board 78 hills and two in the middle and bottom of Board 13 to cover the North end of the large elevated road. Their trucks came down the main road, planning to “run” the elevated road at the first opportunity. The Germans moved a PZII and SPW250/10 to the middle of the elevated road to block egress, and maneuvered a SPW222 into an excellent WA/HD position with a clear shot on the approaches to the elevated road. It looked a bit grim for the Russians after several T-26 MA malfs, but a lucky turret hit flamed the PSW222, and the Russian trucks were off to the races. Mayhem ensued - both sides traded AFVs at quick clip - with the Russians getting a bit more from the DRs. By Russian Turn 5, the Russians needed two more vehicle exits (for a total of three) and two trucks successfully ran the wreck- and smoke-choked elevated road gauntlet for the win. A fun all AFV scenario that offers a bit more variety and complexity than Puma Prowls.
