Overview:
Elements of the Soviet 2nd Guards Army had advanced west of the Mius River, establishing a bulge in the German defensive line near Stepanovka. Heavy fighting, relentless artillery and rocket concentrations, and numerous air attacks by both sides had inflicted mass casualties on Soviet and German combatants alike. The 513th Grenadier Regiment occupied the high ground west of Ssaur-Mogilskj and was about to be overrun by superior numbers of Soviet tanks and infantry. They were reinforced with elements of Leutnant Herlitchka’s panzer company and a battery of StuIG 33Bs.Attacker: Russian (4th Guards Mechanized Brigade and 21st and 22nd Guards Tank Regiments, 2nd Guards Mechanized Corps)
