Overview:
When the 9th Panzer Division arrived in the Roer Plain sector on February 24th, it was but a shadow of its former self. Only twenty-nine tanks and sixteen assault guns remained in what three months before was one of the most feared formations on the Western Front. General von Zangen needed all that 9th Panzer could muster to stop the U.S. Ninth Army in its bid to be the first across the Rhine. Meanwhile, his counterpart, General Rose, divided the U.S. Third Armored Division and attached units into small task forces in an effort to spread the German Fifteenth Army even thinner and force a breakthrough somewhere along the Erft River. Combat Command B, along with elements of the 13th Infantry Regiment, assembled directly in front of Elsdorf during the evening of the 24th and attacked the next morning with an infantry battalion and a company of tanks, including one of the new T-26 experimental heavy tanks on combat trials.Attacker: American (13th Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division and Combat Command B, 3rd Armored Division)
Defender: German (Panzer-Division 9 and Panzergrenadier-Division 3)

| 2026-04-08 | (D) Tripp Killin | vs | Phil Watkins | German win (VASL Log) | A very fun scenario. The Germans only need to have 1 GO MMC in one of many buildings at the end, so everything else is expendable. I set up the Tiger on the hill, to move into a covering position for the right flank, with some infantry and a PzIV as protection. He did a marvelous job (as the Pershing was elsewhere), and basically crushed the infantry on that side of the board single-handedly. In the village, the Americans were cautious crossing board 4 open ground, but they got into the village in decent order by mid-game. But then the wheels came off for them, with good German IFT and TH rolls breaking squads and wounding leaders. By turn 6 a PMC was failed and I took the win. | ||
| 2026-03-18 | (A) Nate Gregg | vs | Chris Gregg | A | American win | 4 hrs | A great scenario. We used the side selection rules which ended up granting Balance to me (the Americans) which gave them an extra turn. The Americans were able to dispatch the 4x German tanks in relatively short order (first 2 1/2 turns) and only lost one immobilized Sherman at that point. I think the Americans could have won even without the extra turn but they used every turn possible to win, mainly because they could. A great scenario and the CVP cap is a critical component to the scenario balance as the Americans almost blew it on the last turn by giving the Germans a chance to steal victory from the jaws of defeat by placing their remaining Pershing a bit too close to some infantry with PFs at the ready. |

| 2025-04-15 | (D) Craig Houliston | vs | Francois Boudrenghien | American win | Was totally outplayed as German defender. My Tiger couldn't hit its target and was shocked for a few turns, ultimately KOed. No real highlights other than my wounded 7-0 KOing the Pershing behind a wall (1,2) when the game was all but over. He was lost to backblast and posthumously awarded Oak Leaf cluster. | ||
