Overview:

Just before dawn, units of SS-Leibstandarte Der Fuhrer Regiment attacked the Dutch border-crossing site on the Maas-Wall Canal, heralding the launch of Germany's Blitzkrieg in the West. The Dutch Army had established itself along the canal-line defensive positions ready to defend, and if necessary, destroy the bridges over the canal. On the eastern bank of the Mass-Waal Canal, the SS Standarte Der Fuhrer Regiment of Gruppe G (Grave), its mission to capture the bridge and sluice complex over the canal, launched an attack -- it would be their Baptism of Fire.

2024-02-25(A) O Ramaille vs German (SS) winThe Germans launched a first assault in order to cross the bridge backed by 50 mm mortars and 75 infantry guns. Two bunkers in the woods fired at the invaders eliminating most of them. One of the bunker was silented by HMG fire enabling some troops to cross and flank the last bunker. The Germans began crossing the bridge by turn 3 when a Dutch counterattack led by the reinforcements started. The Dutch tried to get closer but they could not stand the heavy MG fire and broke unable to capture back the bridge.

2016-12-05(D) Chuck Dye vs Kevin Killeen German (SS) winSame result here, Germans smoked up the whole area and walked across the bridge as one heavy broke. The smoke is going to make all the difference in this one. Dutch didn't get reinforcements until turn six.
2016-10-24(D) nathan wegener vs Dave Mareske German (SS) winGerman got mortars and 7 smoke rounds - waltzed across bridge while my HMGs broke. Destroyed in 2 turns. I could see this going the other way without smoke.
