Overview:
On 9 July, the Soviets managed to create a bridgehead in the VKT Line at Vuosalmi. This was reinforced the following night with several divisions supported by armor. Finnish HQ realized the seriousness of the situation and ordered Maj. Gen. Lagus' armored divisions to the front with orders to eliminate the bridgehead. After several bloody skirmishes, it was evident that the bridgehead contained many more Soviets than the Finns had realized, so they changed their strategy to one of containment. The expected Russian breakout came on 12 July, led by the experienced 92nd Infantry Division, supported by armor.Attacker: Russian (92nd Infantry Division)
