Overview:
The third battle of Kharkov began with German forces pushing towards the city from various directions. Elements of the 2nd SS-Panzer Grenadier-Division ‘Das Reich’ advancing from the southwest were ordered to take the city of Pawlograd and its railroad station. Early on the morning of 22 February, SS-Hauptscharführer Kloskowski was riding in his Panzer III some 10 minutes ahead of his advance platoon when he fought his way to a large bridge crossing the Woltschja River. Kloskowski’s orders were to stop if encountering strong resistance. Having already destroyed several anti-tank guns, trucks and an armored car before reaching the bridge, Kloskowski had no intention of stopping there.Attacker: German (SS) (Elements of SS-Panzer Grenadier-Division 2, "Das Reich")
