Operation Beowulf II began on 10 September 1941 with an attack by the 21st Infantry Division against Vormsi Island, which was the closest of the islands to the Estonian mainland. Beowulf II's objective was the capture of all the Baltic islands in order to secure the sealanes in and around the Gulf of Riga. On 14 September the 61st Infantry Division amphibiously assaulted Muhu Island supported by naval diversionary operations and by a commando raid on Saaremaa Island. By 15 September the Germans had overrun Muhu Island and the 151st Infantry Regiment, 61st Infantry Division attacked across the causeway connecting Muhu and Saaremaa against the Russian 3rd Independent Rifle Brigade, 8th Army. A beachhead was established on Saaremaa by 16 September. After several days of fighting the Soviets retreated into the Sorve Peninsula for a last ditch defense. The 162nd Infantry Regiment launched the assault against the heavily fortified isthmus of the peninsula on 23 September.

Very interesting scenario. A narrow attack path for the Germans ensured quick contact with Russian fortifications on the hill. The German OBA would be very useful and would start a blaze in the back hill wheat field which finally spread to a bunker and eliminated that position and kept the Russians from counter-attacking as the entire wheat field went up in flames. First game that fire helped me win. Fun scenario.
