Awoken at dawn by an anxious Rommel, worried that the British were conducting another Dunkirk, Generalmajor Heinrich von Prittwitz pulled on his boots and headed off to join Ponah’s 8th Machine Gun battalion, sixteen kilometers from Tobruk proper.
