Overview:
The Red Army did not take everyone with them when they left Shihan. Some thirty thousand soldiers were left behind, 10,000 of them were hospital cases. There was no hope of holding the Soviet Territory. Units began to make preparations for guerrilla war. Two weak battalions were ambushed and scattered by the KMT. Many would reassemble at Shihan and cross the Huichang River. Here they were surrounded, and despite their best efforts, they could not break out.Attacker: Red Army (Elements of the Red Army)
