Overview:

Defense of Stalingrad’s central district and the all important main ferry landing lay largely in the hands of hastily mobilized militia composed of factory workers and the NKVD garrison. These troops would have to hold the Wehrmacht at bay until the 13th Guards Division could cross the Volga into the city. But as the German 76th Infantry Division entered the ruins of downtown Stalingrad on a two-mile front, they met the enemy in a new environment more suitable to his talents. Nevertheless, as Captain Gerhard Meunch personally led his 3rd Battalion in the assault, he had every expectation of reaching the Volga that day. . .

2020-12-02(A) Tom Kearney vs Alan Saltzman German winWe played this scenario due to it being top rated on this site. After seeing the ROAR set at 10-5 in favor of the Germans I wondered why it was top rated and gave Al, who was playing the Russians, the balance. The German attack had its ups and downs but inexorably moved forward. The brewery fell around turn 4 or 5. On turn 5 the Germans broke into the bank with help from StuG smoke. Turn 6 saw some key Russian units break. These breaks caused Al to fail a PMC and concede. We both agreed that the Russian reinforcements should begin to arrive on turn 6 instead of 7.
2020-03-10(D) David Ramsey vs Martin Barker German winBrutally destroyed by the Germans. Was left by turn 6 with a smattering of Russians and my personal ELR rapidly failing! Russians need to dig deep and count down the arrival of the reinforcements but turns 5-6 can be miserable if you can't slow down that advance.
