Overview:
The main defensive line west of Canea was manned by the 1st Battalion of the Welsh Regiment. With daylight, the daily strafing by German aircraft began. After hours of bombing and strafing, German machineguns and mortars joined in, killing several British troops. Severe fighting soon erupted and the 1st Welsh had a hard time as German troops infiltrated the forward defense before first light.Attacker: German (Gruppe Ramcke | 7th Flieger Division)
