Overview:
The German offensive to retake Kharkov put the Russian Voronezh Front in disarray. Shortages of fuel and ammo hampered the Russians. The siutation got worse on March 13th when the Grossdeutschland Division attacked north of Kharkov along the seam between the 40th and 69th Armies. Penetrating deep into the Russian lines, the armored elements, including a company of Tigers, turned northeast in the direction of Tomarovka. The Russian command committed the 3rd Guards Tank Corps to slow down the German advance.Attacker: Russian (3rd Guards Tank Corps)

| 2026-09-14 | (A) Todd G | vs | David | German win (VASL Log) | After an initial Russian push to gain some ground, the Germans moved in to hold theirs. The Russians guns quickly knocked out two PzIV's, but the German Tigers answered with knocking out one of the T-34s. The T-34's attempted to rush to cover their flanks, but were squeezed out by a Tiger supported by a PzIV which forced the T-34's to fall back and look for more favorable ground to cross. Unfortunately for the Russians, the Tigers made several solid shots knocking out two more Russian tanks. In a desperate attempt to change their fortunes, one T-34 rushed a PzIV to attempt a rear shot, but was immobilized and then wrecked by a Tiger on the hill. Many T-34 shots landed against German armor, but nearly as many bounced off harmlessly. | ||
| 2026-08-25 | (D) Todd G | vs | David | German win (VASL Log) | Switched sides while still learning. We may have gotten a few rules incorrect during play. The Russians made a dash for the south not wanting to engage with the Tigers or PzIVs, but the Germans would have none of it. While initial German fire managed to take out several T-34s, the Russians managed to swarm behind German armor and to knock out a few PzIVs. But ultimately they were no match vs the PzVIE | ||
