Overview:

German anti-tank units had been recently finding that their ability to destroy Soviet armor had been compromised by a sudden increase in the numbers of tanks that were impervious to their anti-tank guns. Too many recent examples of martyred German soldiers trying to stand their ground against the upgraded Soviet tanks had convinced German authorities to make changes. In late June the 13th Panzer Division finally got an opportunity to refit their mobile Anti-Tank Battalion with the new Marder tank destroyer. This would allow them to finally stand up to the newer versions of the Soviet AFVs with which they were beginning to have to contend. And not a moment too soon; OKW had tasked Army Group A with the capture and exploitation of the vast oilfields near Grozny.

2026-04-26(A) Brian Lazewski vs Darin Lesefka Russian winDarin set his Marders off the hills to avoid the Mortars. But had a hard time getting them to position optimally. Hr did take out 2 of my AFVs. However he lose both martins and the Infantry battle went my way. (Back to back play day sides switched)
2026-04-26(D) Brian Lazewski vs Darin Lefseka German winThe Marder's I set up on the hill. I figured 'd press my luck with the Mortar. I got a lucky shot off and broke the Mortar which made it difficult for the Russian AFV's

2024-09-08(A) Vic Lauterbach vs JM Russian winThis small, fast-playing scenario was fun. Jim's clinic in combined arms defense lasted three turns. Hitting the HD Marders on the vJ4 hill and the 9-1 directed HMG in vM6L1 was very difficult. Then in Turn 4, it all went my way. One Marder broke then disabled its MA and was recalled. My immobilized KV-1E Shocked the other Marder; two 5 drs later it was a wreck. In turn 5, I easily got two KV-1Es and three MMC off for the immediate win. Jim: This one boiled down to keeping a Marder alive long enough to stop a third KV and help the HMG keep the Russian MMC broken and unable to exit. I couldn't do both that long enough. This one is fun but a bit dicey. The margin for error (or bad DRs) is small for both sides.
2024-01-13(D) Ric Hammond vs Blair Belemy German win
2024-01-13(D) Paolo Cariolato vs Guido Guerra German winI played this classic with Guido who has been playing for three years, his attack was not very coordinated, and he tried to force his way with brute force against the bulk of german defenders, it didn't went well for him. After he lost his third KV he rightly conceded. This scenario is pure chance, if the marders get the right TK roll it's game over in flash if they don't they can be obliterated by the mortar and if not my russian fire when they come at shooting distance. This is a dull scenario, There are better scenario to play.
