Overview:
Germany decided to invade Poland. Recreating the same scenario as before (Czechoslovakia with the Sudetes), the free city of Dantzig was the start of Hitler’s ultimatum to Poland. The 26th Augustus 1939, Germany signs a nonaggression pact with the Soviet Union to eliminate the risk of a second front if the Allied nations respect their alliance with Poland. Hitler played a dangerous game with this situation. In hope that the Allied Nations would not respect their engagement with Poland, he created a false Polish attack on a German’s radio station near the border. This attack and the absence of an answer to his ultimatum by the Polish’s Government were the reasons that Germany responded to this “provocation”.
