Overview:

The U.S. 1st Infantry Division was one of three prongs heading toward Oran after the initial Operation Torch landings that same day. Most Vichy resistance was half-hearted, but as Company C of the 18th RCT approached St. Cloud they were ambushed and driven back. St. Cloud was a farming town with sturdy stone buildings. The town was defended by Colonial Legionnaire ad Service d’Orde troops, French Fascists who modeled themselves on the SS. After regrouping, the 18th RCT resumed their advance, this time with support from attached tank destroyers.

2022-05-20(A) Andy Bagley vs Mike Grogan Vichy French winInteresting scenario, but tough one for the Americans I reckon. To say that US 2nd line squads with an ELR of 2 are brittle would be an understatement! That said, my opponent played a very sound defence with the Vichy French, avoiding the higher American firepower with plenty of skulking, and falling back at just the right pace. I managed to keep my vehicles intact and might still have had an outside chance until a CC where the odds were in my favour went against me, leaving me virtually nothing left. I gave up at the end of Turn 5.
2016-05-24(A) Hawkeye Aylward vs JR Vichy French winI am coming back to ASL after a very long layoff and I was playing a recurring champion, so take this all with a big pinch of salt.

I think the Yanks have a very tough go in this one. They have to capture three buildings and neither their troops or firepower seem especially robust for the task. On the other hand, the French historically kept the Amis out of St. Cloud ...

I would like to have another go at it and maybe give the Yanks the balance.
2014-12-27(A) fabrizio da pra vs Marco Negrelli American winThe fanatics half squad where where discovered very early and with little effect. The American was able to advance very fast on the first turn and interdict the the road of retreat of the first line of French troops with a MMG and squad in AA8 hex.

From there it was a two hex per turn advance for the American killing with firepower all the French opposition, mostly unable to skulk due to a flanking unopposed force.

The gun when revealed was able to destroy an halftrack but was broken on the first 9+2 shot.

All was over by the 5th turn.
