Overview:
The 3rd Battalion of the 16th Regiment was ordered to reduce Hamich. The 1st Battalion had bought the 3rd a good jump off area in the woods south and east of the town. Artillery strikes had already flattened many of the structures in the town and yet the Landsers of the 14th Company of the 48th Grenadiers still held out. Lowering the barrels of the few remaining artillery pieces so they might provide direct fire support, the Germans awaited the next American assault from the prepared defensive positions connecting the remnants of Hamich's blasted structures.Attacker: American (3rd Battalion, 16th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division with armor support)
