Overview:
At 5 AM, 533rd Battery, 191st Field Artillery Regiment participated in the Charnwood Operation. At 6 AM, the 9th Canadian Brigade moved towards their objectives of Buron, Authie and Cussy. The 7th Canadian Brigade was ordered to speed through the barrage, take Cussy and the Ardenne Abbaye, northeast of Caen. These positions were manned by the 12th SS Pz Division "Hitlerjugend". The 1st Battalion of the Canadian Scottish regiment was tasked to take Cussy.
