Overview:
The Slovakian Uprising began on August 26, 1944 with the dissidents attempting to disarm a number of Slovak army units. Reacting to the partisan activity, the Germans began sending units into Slovakia on the 29th. One of the primary maneuvers by the Germans was sending the Van Ohlen Group from Poland towards Zilina. The Zilina Garrison was supported by a platoon of three light tanks and a Marder III tank destroyer, as well as a group of communist partisans.
