Overview:
The first attack on Sevastopol began on December 17, 1941. The Rumanian 1st Mountain Brigade overran important defensive positions, allowing the Germans to advance to Balaklava. The assaults were stopped on the 26th because of a Russian landing in the Axis rear near Kerch. To counter this situation, the Korne Mechanized Detachment was sent immediately against the Soviet troops. The Korne Detachment was the only armored formation in the Crimea. Together with some cavalry and infantry, the Rumanian armor launched against the Soviet 63rd and 157th Infantry Divisions.Attacker: Romanian (Elements of the Korne Detachment)
