Overview:
Freed of holding the Tourmauville Island Bridgehead, the Argyll's slogged up the narrow Odon Valley on foot, manhandling their equipment and 6-pdr AT Guns over the marshy river bottom. Finding the bridges at Gavrus intact and undefended, they dug in. Overnight, they became the talk of VIII Corps, and in England the morning newspapers hailed the Argyll's as "Crossing Sweepers". 29 June dawned with no more sign of the enemy other than irritating snipers and distant sounds of vehicles.
