Overview:
After the St. Valery-en-Caux victory and a much needed rest, Rommel's division was soon back on the offensive on the French roads. On 17 June, Rommel received the order to attack in the direction of Cherbourg to cut off any retreat to the 157th British Brigade. The advance of the German recon elements was made at top speed, driving through retreating and quick surrendering scattered French troops, almost without any serious fighting. Meanwhile, the French reinforced their roadblocks on the main roads. Two infantry platoons from the 2ème Cie du Dépôt 33 arrived on the morning of the 18th to the bridge at Martinvast where two old 75mm AA guns were already in position.Attacker: French (1ère and 2ème sections, 2ème Cie du Dépôt 33 and 1ère section of DCA Mobile group)
